Announcing New Director at the Napa-Sonoma Small Business Development Center

Mary Cervantes Retires; Meet Incoming Director, Cathy Balach, MBA, MIM

Outgoing Napa-Sonoma SBDC Director, Mary Cervantes retires this June, having served as Director since 2014. She leaves an impressive legacy of success and accomplishments ongoing in the Center, which provides low and no cost services for our business community.

Incoming Director Cathy Balach has over 10 years of experience consulting and mentoring small businesses for the SBDC. At the SBDC, she has been an expert in online marketing, worked with hundreds of start-up and growing businesses for the SBDC in varied industries, including retail, food businesses, and nonprofits.

Prior to her work for the SBDC, she has launched and managed three businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area, including retail, food manufacturing, and consulting. With the new position, she is stepping down as President of Vinjoy Marketing Consulting, which will continue to offer website and online marketing to the North Bay.

Says Cathy, “I’m thrilled to be at the helm of the SBDC and to expand our support and partnerships in the North Bay community.”

Napa-Sonoma SBDC services include one-to-one expert business advising covering nearly all aspects of business – marketing, operations, human resources, accounting, and financial management.

The Napa-Sonoma SBDC also offers educational workshops geared for small business startup and growth. Added last year to provide up-to-date pandemic, loan and grant information is the ongoing SBDC Facebook LIVE show, which includes interviews with successful business owners and business tips from SBDC advisors.
