The Napa Chamber of Commerce announces its endorsement of candidates for Napa Mayor and City Council in the upcoming November 5 general election.
The Napa Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted unanimously to endorse the following candidates:
Scott Sedgley, Mayor
Bernie Narvaez, City Council – District # 4
Beth Painter, City Council – District # 2
As incumbents, these candidates provide continuity and experience, which is important on multi-year issues such as transportation, housing, local planning and zoning, workforce, and economic development.
Each candidate is willing to listen to the challenges businesses face in the ever-changing regulatory landscape that can make it difficult to operate a business and continue to provide quality jobs, sales tax, and other economic benefits. Each candidate has been accessible and made an effort to reach out to the Napa Chamber to gather input and feedback on public policy and local issues that affect employers and employees.
All candidates who declared their intent to run for Mayor and City Council were invited to submit an application and questionnaire. Candidates were asked to respond to questions about the current business climate in Napa; economic development; housing; homeless services; workforce; infrastructure and transportation; zoning and planning; and collaboration with other community leaders.
While the two endorsed candidates for City Council are running unopposed, the Napa Chamber of Commerce Board recognizes the importance of understanding each Councilmember’s focus, priorities, and key issues as they move into their next term.
The Napa Chamber of Commerce encourages the community and Chamber members to inform themselves and to participate in the upcoming election. As Napa County is a mail-in ballot county, ballots will begin arriving in mailboxes in early October for the November general election.
The Napa Chamber of Commerce, representing a diverse array of businesses and industries, plays a pivotal role in advocating for pro-business policies and economic growth in our community. It is imperative to lend our support to candidates who understand and support the business community – employers and employees – and who seek the economic perspective when considering public policy and making decisions.
