Winners Announced for Third Annual Napa Valley Community Awards

April 16, 2009

Honoring the Napa Valley’s Community Heroes

Winners to be celebrated at May luncheon

They may not be famous, but the work they do every day helps transform the valley into a genuine “community.” And that’s why seven individuals and a nonprofit organization will be guests of  honor at a May 12th gala recognizing them as winners in the third annual Napa Valley Community Awards program, “Celebrating Community.”

The event, sponsored by the Napa Chamber Foundation and Mechanics Bank, applauds people from various walks of life whose extraordinary everyday contributions enhance life in the valley. Judges culled the winners from a distinguished field of nominations submitted by local residents.

2009 Award recipients include:

Outstanding Public Safety Person: City of Napa Fire Capt. Charlie Rhodes, for the warm, personal connection he makes with people on each fire call, as well as a grant-writing talent that secured valuable assets such as a new Wildland Fire Engine.
